What's the best cam for gt40 3 bar heads and intake off a explorer with 65 mm throttle body and 70 mm mass air bbk headers off road x pipe and cold air kit? I was thinking e303 can but I hear they were poorly made and some people found lobes on the cam to be 2 degree off

The CompCams XE264HR-12 is tailor made for the GT40 set-up, but you'll need a set of Cobra 1.7 roller rockers and upgraded valve springs to finish things off.

My understanding is 1.7 RR don't work with anything other and stock cams due to piston-valve-clearance.

You can do cam or 1.7 ratio roller rockers but not both.

When I asked Ford Racing about this, the recommended using the 1.7 roller rockers as you get better power over the entire usable RPM range whereas with the E/B 303 cams you mostly pick up Hp on the upper end and not much at all on low end.

If you want the lope from the cam for sound that's one thing, for best performance you want the 1.7 rockers.

call comp and talk to them...they will know their product best
I have a Trick Flow Stage 1 cam with Crane Gold 1.7 roller rockers. I like it a lot. Good power all over, lot's of torque, and it loves the higher rpms as well.
What Bullitt95 said, that is a good cam to go with and it will work with 1.7 rockers just fine as it was made for them. If you got 1.6 rockers then look at the other XE264HR cam made for 1.6 ratio.

Do you know of any Hp improvement gains from using that cam?

Nice to know there is a cam than can be used with the 1.7 RRs

I'm also curious to know how many issues people have with idle and vacuum problems. This is the biggest reason I would be hesistant to go with an aftermarket cam. A lot of people seem to have idle headaches.
