[85.5psi]

I recently ordered head bolts for my 85.5 svo engine from summit racing. The bolts were described to work for ALL 2.3 engines from 74-93. I put my head on the block and dropped the bolts into the holes to realize that the thread on the old bolts were 1/3 the length of the new bolts so i now need to find the right bolts to complete my motor as soon as possible im tired of bumming rides and taking the bus when i have a gorgeous SVO sitting with no motor. my engine has a worked head w/ oversize valves bigger cam ported and polished intake and exhaust manifold and the boost is bumped to 19psi, but im trying to run methanol and go to 23psi while the stock turbo is still pulling strong. Idk if any of that info helps you find the right bolt but its worth a try. if you can please provide the manufacturer of the bolts and where i can get them thank you you guys are the best :smoke: Thanks for your time

ARP studs are most recommended by Turboford.net. I guess get thru any ARP dealer. Also Esslinger has studs. Page 26 of this link. Unsure what brand they use. Maurice

OK i have been building 2.3 Fords since 1973. Are the bolts you reseaved from summit 6 point TTY???? The old 12 point ones are obsolete and are JUNK. Ford sells TTY bolts for the 2.3 that have longer threads. So i guess you are compairing the old 12 point bolts to the new 6 point jobs. Dont worry do the new bolts require 51 lbs +90*-100* If so those are the new bolts and work extreamly well. Other than that Mg Man is correct the ultimate clamping devices for the 2.3 ford is STUDS hands down Good luck Tom

Studs are good insurance, but not a necessity. Good sealing surfaces, clean bolt threads, and foremost, GOOD 93 or better octane gas is the secret to not blowing a head gasket.

Thanks guys i think i might as well get the studs and not worry about anything in the future as i plan to go crazy with boost till it dont run no more and i have to rebuild it and do the 16v swap :heha:
