bump your timing up - Free

UD pulleys - $100ish
Seeing that you have a 5.0L, set your initial timing to between 13 and 15 degrees. 5.0L's love timing, and that alone will add 12 to 15 RWHP. How's that for under a $100? It won't cost you a red cent, nothing but your time, Mike. :bigthumbsup:bigthumbsup
That is really good info. I would take up to 7 hp and an increase in torque for free. Is bumping to 12 that much different then bumping to 15? I have read people bumping to 12 all the way up to 19 and I am trying to get a feel for what I should do.

every car is a little different..just gotta play with it
mine likes it best at 14*

avg usable increase in that example is like 5hp..winding the piss out of the motor way past the powerband isnt going to make you go faster..in fact, it'll just slow you down

it drops off 10hp in 300rpms past 5000 to 5300 for that bone stock motor, and keeps going downhill after that..stock heads/cam/intake is DONE by 5000rpms..revving till 6k is worthless

Sold! I will take it. :yup:

Yeah I try to shift at about 4800-5000 RPMs. I have had the car for about 1.5 months and I am starting to get the feel when it begins to bog.

right on..you can feel it level out then start to nose over...the general rule of thumb for racing is to shift about 300-500rpms past peak, give or take..so a bone stock motor,in reality, shouldnt need to see anything past like 53-5500...not to mention the stock valve springs probably start to float the valves a few hundred rpms later lol

Well make sure everything is up to par like your plugs, wires, cap and rotor are looking good. Bumping your timing and removing your air silencer and replacing your stock filter with a k&n is well worth it.

Should he replace it with the k&n that goes in the airbox?? Do they really help that much??
the lottery.. because $100 is like going to mc donalds with 25 cents.. its not gonna get you very far
take everything out of the car that you won't need or use. Weight reduction is free.
You can lose 30# with my bumper.

how much you think shipping would be to southern indiana?

It's not that it is a miracle hp maker but every little bit helps. Just like when you are doing weight reduction.....does this 10 lbs really help? Well yeah when you combine that 10 lbs with 50 lbs with 20 lbs with 15 lbs.
