Hey Im looking at buying a set for black FR500 rims for my 99 cobra. They are 18x9 up front and 18x10 backs. I was just wondering what the best tire size would be since the rear times they come with are bald. American muscle reccomends 305/35/18, my brother has 275,45,17s on his. I was wondering if theres much difference between the stock 45s and the reccommend 35s.

id do the 305's, itll be a wider tire, better traction. i have 315's on mine and the nittos are like 12" wide.

the lower profile tires generally cost more, also the ride will be diminished since the tires are thinner, there is also the consideration that you cannot rotate your tires if they are staggered...the wider tires do look better esp on that Cobra since it's a wider car.

Generally the wider the better... 305 > 275

but I really like some sidewall for some flex to grip the surface.... 45 > 35.

In your position pending on how tight everything is, I'd probably opt for a 295/45/18
