10,000 miles and it's time for new tires. I drive mainly on very twisty roads at "fun" speeds. (see picture) The OEM 18" tires are evenly worn and I rotated them once. I'm looking for some that will last longer and have better handling characteristics. Is that possible ?

I'm looking at Bridgestone Potenza RE760's. Does anybody run them and how do you like them ? I don't drive in the snow and very seldom in the rain. Any other recommendations ?

I really liked my GoodYear Eagle F1 supercar they lasted over 20,000 miles. Right now I have Sumitomo HTZ 111 and they seem to be doing well.

Oh, what a beautiful scene it must be!

What about the Pirelli tires? I know GoodYear has good ones but am not a tire expert.

If it were me, I'd hie me to the nearest Michelin dealer and get whatever tire corresponds to a 255-section, 45 ratio which I think is the largest that can comfortably fit on your 8.5 rims and has the same diameter as the stock tires (27"). The oversize tires will have to carry less weight per square inch of contact surface, so last longer, but will take a bit more power to push, so will use more gasoline.

My experience with Michelin has always been good, beginning in 1964 and extending to the current tires on my convertible. I think Michelin have the ability to design a good compromise among comfort, sticktion and durability. Expensive, but worth it.

I’ve heard fantastic things about those tires. They are what is going on my 2010.:bigthumbsup

I considered those but after reading online real world reports comparing various tires. I decided to go with the Bridgestone RE 760's. They were rated slightly better than the HTZ 111's.

I got them installed at Wheel Works in Santa Rosa, CA. They quoted me $940.00 for a set of four. He then asked me if I had any quotes from other sources. I told him I had lower prices from two other tire stores plus an online price. They came down to $768.00 mounted and balanced. I think I did pretty well. With the slow economy business's are willing to bargain.

My first driving impression.....the steering wheel felt lighter...it was much easier to turn. And when you turn the steering wheel the car actually responds ! Turn in is quicker.

Today I leave for a cross country trip back to Wisconsin to visit family and friends. It should be FUN !

I was surprised to see this old post again !

I now have 20,000 miles on the Bridgestone RE 760's and I might get another 5,000 or so miles out of them. Yes, I'm a satisfied customer and I'll buy the same ones again.

They work really well in the rain.

Came to this thread after researching Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I want to put a set of 265/40ZR19 all around on my OEM 19x8.5 GT/CS rims. I have the OEM 245/45R19 Pirelli PZeros now (which suck). What kind of issues, if any, will I have by moving up to 265/40's? Besides looking for more grip, I want to help fill the wheel gap a bit without having to resort to spacers. Thanks for any advice.

265/40-19 tires are going to be just a little shorter than your 245/45-19's. About 0.3" shorter.


Scott - I've found Bridgestones to be among the more responsive tires and have them on two of my cars.

These tires stick like glue, balanced really easily, look awesome...I've even used them in the rain and they do a great job! I'm very happy!!

That's a good deal! I've never heard of that tire but thanks for telling! another ture I heard is cheaper but actually performs well is Hercules tires. Idk about them as I don't have them but it's just what I've heard

Depends on what type of tire you're looking for. All Season, Winter, Summer, High Performance, Wet....? I put on some Goodyear Eagle GT's on wifes 06GT Vert 3 years ago. They do good in summer, winter, wet...good all round tire. A test was done a year ago, pitting Cooper RS3S and RS3A up against some popular brands... They did very good and were test driver top picks. It almost comes down to some research, and then personal pick.
