It seems i have a bird or birds attacking my side view mirrors in the early morning. I noticed the other day there was bird poo flung on the side of my doors, mirror and windshield. i cleaned it off and mumbled a few words. This morning i was driving to work and looked over at my passenger side window and there was more poo. when i got to work i got out and saw even more poo on the driver side door and mirror. i think a bird is trying to fight with its reflection. any one else had a problem like this. im worried my new babby is gonna get all chicken scratched or poo will eat the paint. figured i would see if it happens again and then cover the mirrors at night if it does. maybe a fake owl or something to scare them away. dissapointed.gif

Unfortunately I suffer the same pain, I deal with a sycho cardinal that has been attacking its image in my vehicles mirrors and crapping down the sides of my doors for about three years. The poop is annoying but they will scratch and destroy your mirrors. The only thing that works is I have cut the legs out of my kids sweatpants and put them over the mirrors but as soon as I forget its back on the attack. I have been actively hunting this bird for about two years with my sons bb gun but I'm loosing that battle and my family finds it hilarious. I hate them all.

I had the same problem with a California Towhee. I got tired of covering my mirrors every night so I trapped him and sawed his beak off. Now he's drinking Ensure through a straw.

I sympathize with your situation. It really sucks when any Pony sustains damage for any reason.

I assume parking your car indoors is not an option?

As horrible as it is, I find this hilarious. I wouldn't want it done to my car though, so I sympathize for you. Maybe tape those rat trap adhesive strips to the areas the bird perches on, you'll have your revenge in no time.

Birds are territorial. And you can understand where the derogatory term, "bird brain", came from.

Here are a couple things that I tried and they both work. I got some cheap track pants (elasticized at the ankles), size L or XL, at the Dollar Store and cut the legs at about 12" up from the ankle. The elastic end goes on first and holds the cover in place nicely. No more little peckers attacking my car. You can wear the vandalized track pants to wash the car and make the neighbors think you may be a little odd. :heha:

The bottom of a Downy bottle works, too. It takes a little work with a heat gun (NOT on the car) to soften the plastic and then it can be shaped to fit. Next, it is cut to leave 4 tabs on to hold the cover in place. Works OK and the birds find another car to attack.

HTH,

Chris

p.s.--I tried work socks but I didn't like the rough material on my painted mirrors! Socks will work but they are a lot rougher than track pant material.

Reminds me of a local news story here in INDY where a woodpecker was breaking out an old guys windows and mirrors in his truck for a few years before animal control came out captured it, and released it somewhere far away from his house. I saw some fake plastic owls at harbor freight the other day, maybe get one of those and sit it on something under your carport near the car?? I would rather try that before having to remember to put pant legs on you mirrors every day..

It might be the colour. My car attracts bees and other insects when it is parked.
