Just picked up a turbo coupe that has a BOV on it. Its been attached to the side of the intercooler(pipe welded on) and the line runs to the vacuum block on the firewall. I read somewhere that the line was supposed to go to the intake before the throttle body. It seems to be functioning but is this a correct spot to hook it up or should i change it? And just for the sake of knowing the info, why?

It goes before the throttle plate on the boost side of the turbo. Then you adjust it and a vacuum hose does go to the vacuum TREE. Its used to bleed off boost during closed throttle and to keep the turbo from excessive back preasure biild up. It works very good and should always be usd on a turbo car. Peace Tom

Thanx for the info. I assume by "boost side of the turbo" you mean between the turbo and the throttle body? So having it come off the side of the intercooler (where it is) is ok? Glad to know the vacuum line is hooked up right.

You are right. The purpose of the BOV (or BPV) is to provide a path for the presurized column of air to go when you close the throttle (turbo is spinning when there is little or no vacuum so it is creating pressure before the throttle body). When you lift your foot off the gas, the throttle body closes but the turbo is still pushing air at it. The BOV allows this pressurized air to be re-routed back into the intake of the turbo (or upstream of the turbo anyway) and allows the turbine to spin down at a reasonable rate (instead of slamming to a stop).
