I really did it this time. I am in the process of adding a center console trunk release button. I read the write up here, but my car doesn't have the same colored wires.

Anyway, looking at the lock mechanism, I see 2 wires. one pink and one black. Playing around i've found that if I feed power to the pink one, the latch activates (opens). Unfortunately, there's no always on power in the trunk anywhere, so I took apart the center console.

The back of that power outlet has 2 wires, one green and one black. I test the green line as active (with this https://www.wdcart.com/cremos/catalog2/images/PC280122.JPGCircuitTester6V-12V.JPG) and then tapped the green wire (like this http://thm-a04.yimg.com/image/39a70089b1c0dd6e).

Now both outlets are dead. I checked every fuse in the fuse box in the passenger kick panel, all were good.

Now i'm at a loss.

and I'm supposed to leave from KC and drive to Boston on Tuesday

Have you checked the fuses under the hood? There is a wiring diagram sticky in the 2005+ tech section.

ta da.. the fuses were not labeled, but i checked every fuse 20 and under and found a blown 20a, so i 'borrowed' a 20 from another slot and the center outlet now works. i guess the dash one is switched

Never feed power into a wire that you don't know where it goes :nono:
