All the brake booster will do is reduce the effort you have to apply to stop the car, it will not help the distance the pedal has to travel, either you have air in the brake system, or a bad master cylinder, or the brake self-adjusters are not working or are too far out of adjustment (I have seen some customers who rarely back up, and this will cause the a gradual loss of pedal), so you can use a brake spoon (adjustment tool, they are cheap) to turn the self-adjusters, pull the rubber plug and insert the bend end into the slot and engage the self-adjuster star wheel, then turn the spoon down to rotate the star wheel, so with the wheel raised off the ground, the brake just barely drags on the drum, do all four, then check your pedal.
