I have been wondering whether it is cheaper, easier and safer to just get another front axel with the disc brakes already installed as opposed to getting a brake upgrade conversion kit.

A big factor here is that I have never done either one of these projects before. These kits seem pretty inclusive and easy to install. My question with the kits is, do they really make a BIG difference in your braking comfort and speed?

My question about the axel swap is, do you need to do tons of mods to the steering and other components to make this work? Thanks for the info...Ace

The first question is--Do you have a 6 cylinder, or a V8?

Then it relates to the parts needed. If you have a V8 66, then the need to change the Spindles in non existant, does not need to be done. If a 6 Cylinder, then you May Want to change the spindles to the V8

Your C5DA Spindles will bolt on the Factory Mustang Disc Brakes, yes, bigger rotors than the Granada brakes without changing the spindles, or the Alignment--Exact assembly line fit now, or 30 years from now for replacement parts.

Here ya go!
64-66 Mustang Disc Brake Swap

Some guy on here might chime in soon. He has some and says they work great. Plus if you do have the V8, just use your existing spindles. I'm getting mine maybe in a couple weeks.

Concur w/ SDMustangRider. CSRP is about the only company I can find that will offer a convesion kit for 66 mustangs (v8) without having to have 15" wheels. I'm going to order this week. It's nice for guys who want to keep their stock 14" wheels. And, the kit is in the neighborhood of $700 or so which is much mo' betta than the $1K min a lot of companies charge for their "racing" brakes and what not. Good luck!

My car has a 302 V-8 in it.I know its not the stok engine, but it replaced a 289...So...It has always been a V-8 car. I appreciate the posts here. Thanks for the time.
