Hey folks,
I just got myself a set of GT500 Brembo take offs, and I been wondering what additional hardware is required? I read WRXified's write up regarding the install process but he didn't state whether or not a new caliper bracket was required. Thanks!

A set of 19" wheels? I'm not 100% certain, but I thought Brembos needed 19s to clear the calipers, at least on the fronts.

I think he means the brakes, Haha.

As for the caliper bracket, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you need one.

A general question about the brembo brakes purchase. Do you guys that are buying the brembos after market plan on tracking your cars. After looking up the repalcment prices, heck even the purchase price, it just does not seem like a resonalble purchase unless you are tracking your car on a regular basis. Or am I just not looking in the right places for more resonable prices. Everything I see is right at two thousand.

I track my car every other month and run time attack locally at a biweekly basis. I did get the brembos for $400 so that was a good price haha

Part of the reason I went with the GT upgrade instead. But I think it's very cool that we can interchange parts like that.

The Brembos would NOT be a first choice upgrade for tracking. Of course if they are cheap enough they might be a good bargain upgrade. The Brembos Ford puts on these cars are really pretty lack luster compared to other options. They are a just a "famous-name/appearance" item that do more harm than good on the street due to the extra weight and no stopping distance gains and they get beat on track by any number of aftermarket packages. I think the Brembo PACKAGE is a good one for a bone stock car but that's for the wheel/tire/suspensions part of the package. I'd rather have the Brembo package but hold the Brembos ;) Come to think about it, that's about what the V6 Performance Package is.

Yeah, but they don't get sloppy on the track like the OEM's do. I fully understand why he would want to do that upgrade if he tracks his car lots.

$400 is a steal of a deal. If you don't mind me asking, where did you find that deal?

Classifieds in this forum haha. Also the brembo calipers are not what is bad Its the brake pads. Ill switch them out for a set if race pads. Also with a set if lightweight rotors will make the brembo setup weight close to stock as well.
