I've been considering jumping into a Mustang GT for quite some time and I came across an article that talked about this offer for a Roush supercharged Mustang from the dealer: https://www.brownleeford.com/brown-lee-performance.html

I was just wondering from drivers who run the Rousch supercharger if they are happy with it.

I'm a bit skeptical because the deal almost seems too good to be true.

I've seen some great deals on supercharged Mustangs that members have posted in the past that are along these lines. Seems like an amazing deal for 700hp! Let us know if you go any further with it.

Seems odd a dealer would offer a SC GT for that little. I presume it is 700 HP attached to a standard GT platform with standard GT suspension and brakes and tires. This raises alarm bells to me. The kit alone is about $7,000.

Personally I would not drive it off the lot with that much HP unless the suspension and brakes were upgraded, which i speculate are not.

Let us know what you find out. Very curious.

I have seen a few posts about similar deals from other dealers.

The Roush supercharger (and supporting components such as heat exchanger, etc.) have a real good reputation as one of the best overall; not the highest performance but generally efficient, manages heat fairly well, generally "safe" if it has a safe tune; though 700 HP on the stock internals does seem like pushing the envelope to me. Also my understanding is that if it is installed by a qualified dealer, the factory warranty is maintained; or maybe Roush provides a supplemental warranty.

I believe the S550 GT already comes with good brakes (15" 4-pot Brembos?) so it should be good in that department; might need upgraded control arms to prevent wheel hop but I'm not sure how that works with the "new" IRS.

The s550 roush even base model is one bad mother. the engine has been pushed to 900hp regularly it’s not the hp that causes problems it’s torque and these engine are a little low on torque so it is generally not a problem. The stock suspension and brakes will have no problem with 700hp. Now good luck finding one that price, just because it says as low as don’t mean they have any at that price when you get there. I bet they just sold the last one at that price right before you got there.

To me, Supercharged engines are like a super hot girlfriend the wife doesn't know about (yet).

Aside from the hp upgrade, the car comes with a 3 year warranty as well. Hell of a deal for the price.

If limited torque output of a SC 5.0 truly is the deciding factor to say standard GT suspension, brakes and tires are adequate for a SC 5.0 producing 700/610, then Ford went overboard on the suspension, brakes and tires on the GT500 producing 15 more ft-lb torque. Right.

The issue isn't if the standard GT hardware can handle it. Maybe it will hold up if its driven on the street sensibly. If that's what someone does with 700 HP. Reality is the base GT tires won't hook and the 4 ports will fade on track. So hopefully its bought by a light footed driver.

The car brownlee ford is selling has to be a loss-leader to get people in the doors. Or they have such high volume they get new cars and aftermarket gear at such huge discounts they can all but give stuff away. But I bet the pressure is on to buy the nicely dealer optioned SC 5.0
