Buying a Paxton for my '13

5774 Views 30 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  aaholland
After my last post on which supercharger to buy, I decided to go with the Paxton. I have talked my wife into buying one now instead of waiting until next summer.

My next question is, who should I buy it from? I am planning on going with AM because they have been fantastic so far, but I am always open suggestions/experience. Thanks in advance!!

What I find strange about a Paxton, the air intake location… It doesn’t matter what’s compressing the air you are going to generate heat… And the air intake looks like it is at the back of the driver’s side engine compartment, next to the exhaust manifold, this has to be a very hot spot to pull air from… That package must have some super-duper heat exchanger to keep from getting heat soaked…

Just call some dealers and get bids...

I thought the paxton unit had almost the same intake location as stock? PM some of the vendors here and see what they can do. I've gotten some pretty nice discounts from vendors just by asking.

I know this is gonna sound stupid, but how do I find vendors on here?

Paxton uses the stock air box, or you can replace with open element, but its in the stock location. Procharger is the kit with filter near the drivers side header.

HI. How are you doing. I don't know if you remember me but I bought your wheels.

So I know you can go to indiana. If you are not installing the paxton yourself, go buy it and install it at brenspeed in indiana. They have a very very good reputation.
Find beefcake he was doing an awesome deal on Paxton kits on another forum. I think it was fee id 1000's or something like that.

Yep! It was the NOVI 2200, a Vortech BAP, your choice of pulley and Lund tuning and he threw in the ID1000s for free. Not sure if that deal is going on still but he always has good prices. JPC also has some good kits going.

Oh and it uses the stock airbox. Procharger has the intake at the back of the bay.

This is wrong. You are talking about the Procharger kit. The Paxton uses the stock airbox.

Good luck OP! Your gonna love the Paxton, I know I love mine! Like others said, look around, I purchased mine from Beefcake, he will give you a hell of a deal.

I think I'm gonna set something up with Beefcake. I live in Columbus, so they are only a few hours away. My other buddy is trying to talk me out of the supercharger now, and have me buy the Tremec/twin plate clutch/one-piece driveshaft first. Now I'm just confused!!!

I have the money for one or the other, but my wife will KILL me if I buy both!!!

My heart says Paxton NOVI 2200, but my mind says get rid of the weak link first. Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!:?:

Buy the Paxton first. When and IF you blow up or wear out the other parts, you will have a good reason to replace them. Your wife can't argue with that. Unless she wants to have a car sitting on blocks in front of the house.

You just go ahead and get that Paxton. Chances are it'll sort out that transmission for you. :gringreen

It looks like you have the same Paxton that I want, and the same transmission. Have you had any problems with the MT-82?

Nope not a one. Granted I've only driven around 300 miles with it on and they've mostly been around town.

If you haven't had any problems yet with your MT-82, I wouldn't worry about it too much and just get the Paxton. I've got about 2000 miles with mine and I'm on the stock clutch. There are several supercharged 5.0s running the stock clutch on other forums, just search around. Get the Paxton now, and start saving for the other stuff later. Good luck!

Yup! Same here. I plan to do paxton in spring. The results I been seeing lately with paxton is impressive for the price.

So for you guys that already have paxton, how's the daily driveability? Any weird idle or surge issues? Unpredictability? Anything you guys don't like about the kit? I plan to stay on the safe side. Maybe somewhere in the low to mid 500's and I will be good for daily driver.

I get just a little bit of a surge at idle when it's cold, but once it's warm, no problems at all. Drives like stock and pulls like a Mofo when WOT. In 3rd gear at 60mph, when I floor it, it will break em loose on the highway. It's crazy fast, but I like it! I love the kit. The price was awesome. The install is time consuming, but looks great when finished. I love the way the engine bay looks with the Paxton and Boss intake.

I just noticed you had a '13. With the '13s, there is no trimming of the front bumper to install the intercooler. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this out.
Thanks guys. I've decided to go to Beefcake, and get the Novi 2200. I'm gonna swap out the clutch, Exedy or McCleod? I also ordered a MGW shifter and one-piece driveshaft to try to help out the MT82. I will post up pics once it's done.
