I have a 1968 Mustang Coupe 6 cylinder 200ci. The transmission went out on me some months ago and I recently picked up another one. After about 3 days of driving I lost all gears. Every single one! I could hear a sort of grind or whine noise when I would drop into gear. When I put it in park the noise went away. I found it weird for all gears to go out at once so myself and a friend pulled the transmission out and disassembled it. We came to find out that the FORWARD CLUTCH DRUM or HUB was the problem. I'm not sure on the term for the part but it is centered on the Drum or Hub and has teeth for the inputshaft to grab on. the teeth were stripped. Does anyone know what can cause this and how I can prevent it in the future. Also Where can I find that part? I've checked eBay and several transmission part websites and I only come up on a billet drum which is way out of my price range. I just need to get my car back on the road. Could anyone help me out?
