can a console shifter be adapted to work w/o console

I have a "66 coupe, auto trans, I'm want to remove the console. Can I use the shifter w/o the console? I've up graded the trans and can the selector plate be changed?

Yes, you can remove the console but you may have issues with carpeting. I've taken the consoles out of my 66 and my 70 but replaced the carpeting at the same time. The non-console shifter cover and plate are available at CJ Pony and I'm sure other dealers as well.
