Can a manual 5.0 move at any rpm?

Can a manual 5.0 move at any rpm? It's been 2 years since I test drove the 5.0 and I wasn't thinking about it at the time. With the V6, if I'm cruising along at 1.5-2K, I can put the pedal to the floor and I'm either staying the same speed and rpm or just slowly creeping up. Down shift so I'm in the power band and I'm good to go. Is the 5.0 the same way? Or can I stomp it down in any gear and get moving? Obviously, there's still an optimum rpm range.

Also what determines this? The amount of torque at those rpms?

If your in 6th gear at 45 mph or less it don't really move but in 5th I'll go down to 20 mph sometimes and it has no problem picking up speed.
Well depends on your definition of moving. At 60 with 3.73 in 6th you can accelerate easily to keep up with faster trafficc where most cars would have to downshift. If you REALLY want to move downshift to 3rd at 60 and get ready to shift to 4th real quick as I promise you will be moving:gringreen

Pretty much once the 5.0 is spinning over 3500rpm the Coyote is ready to howl!

The GT has more than enough torque to accelerate the car in any gear. I frequently pull away from an almost complete stop in 3rd gear without lugging the engine. It sounds like you just need to go test drive another one.
The torque difference between the GT and V6 is considerable. Easy to pull in any gear at almost any rpm in the GT
we rode the 6th gear (3.73's) down to about 900 rpm. the idle torque kept the car rolling very slowly down the road and we were on a 3% decline abouts. Gased it from there to show my wife how you can just kill the engine if you don't shift during the proper power bands.
....I rarely downshift no matter what speed I'm at and end up keeping up or passing traffic. 45mph in 6th is enough to stay with traffic merging onto the freeway. 45 in 5th and you may be accused of speeding. Try that in 2nd/3rd and people will think you are driving a Ferrari performance capable machine, especially when you get the Mod bug.
