Not a chance. Those things are pretty quick. They'll beat 99-04 Mustang GTs stock for stock, so your stock 89 doesn't stand too much of a chance unless your brother misses a few shifts.

Hate to be so harsh, but it's the truth.
Your making 225hp he's making between 287 and 300hp depending on what year model he has. You have 300lbs torque vs his 274. (All years.)

At best you may get off the line quicker (assuming your at a stand still) because you have more torque but hes got a big hp advantage on you. From a roll he'll take you fairly easily.

Assuming he can drive of course.
3.73 it and you guys will probably be pretty close

LOL ! he will need a little more then 3.73`s to stay with a 350Z !
on the freeway yea no question the Z will run away easily but not from a stop, till they get into the higher rpms

I think even from a stop the Z will walk away because of it's ability to rev higher and faster.
I used to have a 93 lx 5.0 and my friend has a 95 Trans Am with lt1 and t56, he had it dynoed and it came in at 279.4 hp and 314.7 tq, and when I sold my stang, the guy who bought it took the ram air off, and took it to the track, and he runs the same time in the 1/4 and 1/8 mile as the trans am. Both run 8.9s in the 1/8th and 13.9s in the 1/4.
Why ask? Just race!
Stupid thing posted twice....

Thats really nice , but he is talking about a STOCK 5.0 , 13.9 is a long way off of what a Stock 5.0 can run !
