Ok all the other day was driving home and I got this really strong exhaust smell coming in the my car.. So bad that I had to drive with the windows down. I found that the rubber bushing around the speedo cable was gone so I packed it with dumb dumb. Than I was like I'm going to check my timing. I marked the line on the balencer took out the sprout connector. The timing line is like 4 inchs way from the timming pointer. What could be causing this? All so the car back fires (not that bad) And the tail pipes are full of carbon build up.
Its a 91 LX 5.0 pretty much all stock but hascould air intake and H pipe.
Thanks for the help

what were you trying to set your timing to (where did you mark your balancer?)

im assuming you were using a light...correct?
Yep using a timing light was just trying to see if it was timed right. I marked the balancer on that line that goes cross it kinda deep v'ed out line right?

Done that first thing I did. But no matter what I do can not get the timing mark to line up with the pointer on the block.

this is the mark right?

no there are numbers on the balancer that read BTDC and ATDC you want to make your line at 10degrees BTDC.
