I am planning on doing a PI swap this summer and I have been looking into getting a tuner for my car since I have a decent list of bolt-ons i figured that getting a tuner would help me really take advantage of the bolt ons. So I went to AM to investigate. Can somebody explain the difference in these two options? I realize the chip has no display, but if I am not tuning the car myself, does it really matter?

The X3 gives you the options to make small changes yourself, such as changing gear ratios and tire size, which happens all the time. It also allows you to recieve updates to your tunes via email, which the chip won't.

The other good things that you get with the handheld is the ability to read codes, and the ability to datalog or see live data on the tuner itself. You wouldn't believe how invaluable that data is when troubleshooting problems.
