I was poking around for SYNC updates, and noticed that they can tell me when there is a problem with my vehicle, etc., which got me wondering, can SYNC transmit information back to Ford about any tunes applied to the vehicle?

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but if the government can be sneaky about what we know (or don't know), perhaps Ford may do the same.

Some have said they can. If you are going to tune your car they will find out one way or another, whether you take it in for work or do a VHR. Thats what Im going with.

Possible?

Sync's VHR(vehicle health report) transmits its information to Ford via a text message. I would think that the ECM coding could be sent in this information, but I doubt it would trigger a red flag. If you are concerned about it, just make certain that you have it turned off in Sync's menu. I don't see a need for it, and I would doubt most people on here would. It's more for people who are not "into" cars.
