Canadian Gas Mileage in '12 Stang

Hey guys

I've driven now 8000 KM on the car, and im sitting at 10L / 100km, and when I convert to american, its 23mph ...that's far from 29/30 like they say I should be getting right?

I have noticed I am definitely a quicker driver (stupid borlas, stupid 305hp engine, stupid sexy looking car)... but I don't red line it, maybe once a week if that... I do get up into the 3500's sometimes though.

Let's say 8 times a week at 3500 ... would that kill my mileage that bad?

I've reset it a few times...and still no change.

I find you have to REALLY try and drive like a baby to get good mileage. On the highway it's pretty easy, but in stop/go traffic and most inner-city stuff, you really have to watch those RPM's.

A lot of the time, I'll skip 3rd gear and just 2nd-4th. I've noticed this helps, but don't shift to low (nothing under 3,000RPM in 2nd), otherwise you'll bog.

It annoys me, too. This was another reason for me to step up to the 5.0. At least then, I won't be surprised when the mileage sucks, Hahaha.
drove a V6 Acura for years...yeah about 23 is typical for an engine that size, not to mention down here we have E10, so lower it goes once again...thanks Libs

...not to mention it was "W" who implemented the methanol subsidies and fuel mandate.
I have a Steeda tuned '12 GT and it's at 10L/100 and never moves. Mostly city and a bit of highway, it never changes no matter how I drive it. The sad thing is they did away with the decimal, so it could be 10.9 or 10.1 average who knows?

Before it was tuned it would avg 7-8L/100km.

Was that all downhill highway or something?
no it was a combo of both city and highway

I'm averaging 15l/100 ..also @8k on my 2012 v6 premium with perf pkg

The air is thicker in Canada.
Heavier air = worse milage.
Suprised they didn't teach you that in your Canadian schools.

are you kidding? that's horrible right?

and yeah I do 80% hwy... I drove a v6 solara so im used to the gas usage also, but was wondering where the 28/29 would come...

i aint babying it that much in the city if its that sensitive! ha!

I would of got GT too, but in Canada the difference between my model and 'base' GT was $12,500
i had not reset the computer since april, but just did a couple weeks ago when i had to unplug the battery. So i got a rather steady reading of 12L/100km over 10,000km.

i live in Montreal and drive about 50km/day to work. It's a mix of city and highway driving that correspond to the test for CITY driving from Transport Canada.

I know it's pretty close to being 12.0 on average because whenever i get out of town for a few hundred km of highway it reads 11L/100km. I get back to 12 after a few days of city driving.

On the highway and measured at the pump, not with the readout, i get 8.5L/100km with two people onboard and luggage for a long weekend. That is only highway, no city driving. I got that number driving from Montreal to Quebec and from Montreal to Boston, cruise control set between 100 and 110km/h.

And on monday nights, i drive the car on the track for 20 to 40 minutes and don't expect to save fuel there, shifting at 6500 RPM and keeping the revs above 3500. The 45 km ride back home is always a spirited driving session.... within the speed limits, of course.

I will save fuel when winter comes and the Mustang is in storage as i drive a Mazda3 that gets around 9L/100km with the same drive to work , but a little less highway and no track at all.
Getting 11.1l/100KM.(currently at 6700KM)

Do about 90% city driving, so I would say you are getting pretty good gas milage.
My '11 V6 auto typically gets 10/100km in the city. When I take my trip up north from Toronto to Parry Sound, I reset the counter, hold an average about 115kph & get, according to my info centre 7/100 km, which is quite good to me.

10L/100KM equates to 28 miles per Canadian gallon. When you change your display to English instead of Metric , the conversion is to US gallons.
I have a '12 v6 and an '11 5.0. Ive said this before. The milage with the 6 cylinder is not what it is hyped up to be from the factory. It will get decent milage at a constant speed . And that is "constant".The gauge on mine will register 7-8 L/100km on a straight, even road at cruising speeds between 60 and 100 km/hour. But these conditions are very seldome achieved for more than brief periods. In stop and go driving of any kind, there isnt enough of a difference between then v6 and v8 to write home about.
And by the way, my car is Bama race tuned with Ford racing axlebacks. Berfore the Bama tune it burned more fuel !
12.7l/100km over 18,000km on 95% city driving.. I enjoy accelerating hard and am willing to pay for the gas to do that. I've had a few long highway trips where I usually average ~8l/100km but I've had it as low as 7.5 on the trip to Edmonton (pretty much perfectly flat). If you baby it, you can get decent mileage, but I didn't buy it for the mileage.

I did just swap gears from the stock 2.73s to 3.73s so I'll have to see where the average consumption goes from here.
I had a 2006 GT (auto) that got ~12 L/100km in mixed city/hwy and I just replaced it with a '13 GT (MT/trackpack/3.73) that is getting ~13 L/100km in the same driving conditions. I'm happy to pay the extra 1L/100km for the 3.73's and the extra 120hp lol. Actually I'm *sure* it's the 3.73's. The hwy cruising rpms are much higher in the '13 (~2000 vs. ~1600). Maybe the mpg's will improve as it breaks in more.

BTW the mpg readouts in the '13 dash LCD are pretty cool. I like watching the fuel shut off (instantaneous fuel use drops to zero) when engine braking.
If I drive somewhat normally in mixed city/highway driving I average 10-11L/100km. But highway-only driving conservatively (115-118kmh) I can get 8.5-9L/100km or about by keeping under 2000 RPM.
12.7L/100K (about 18.5 mpg) here 80% city driving.

7L/100k is highly possible if hypermiling on the highway. Averaged about 10 when doing a very spirited mountain road trip.
In BC Canada I get about 16mpg average. That's mostly all city driving. If I really baby it I can get a little higher. However, when I'm filling up for $1.39/L and I always wonder 'what's the point of babying it' lol. So I don't! I don't drive it hard at all though. I usually shift at 2.5-3k Rpms and just enjoy my ride. Gas is the last thing on my mind most times.

But I'm at my vacation home in SoCal and I'm getting 19mpg. So it has to do with terrain as well. Stay away from all hills hahaha.

How are them Borlas?
