I was setting the timing for my 88 LX 5.0 and I cant rotate it any further clockwise!
it seems to be a few degrees off, but it hitting the upper radiator hose.

What could be causing this problem and how can I fix it?

Im trying to set it at 0 for now...

and I did a motor swap so yes it was out... do I need to take the timing chain cover off, or can I just pull it out and rotate it one tooth?

Really? so am I supposed to set it to the 10* mark on the HB, or set the gun to 10?

Either way would work. Set the light to 10 and adjust to make it read 0 on the balancer, or Set the light to 0 and adjust to read 10 on the balancer. Make sure you're setting it to 10* Before Top Dead Center, Not After.

Glad you got it fixed. That one tooth makes a BIG difference in how much room you have to rotate it.
