Starts right up But after about 20 miles an hr
and pushing on the gas pedal it started to sputter
Rebuilt carb and now just a little worse.
Checked points and rotor and timing Still running bad
Anyone have any ideas.

You could have either an ignition problem, or a fuel problem, I would start with a fuel pump capacity test, disconnect the fuel line from the carb and push on a piece of flexible (rubber like) fuel line onto the metal fuel line and insert the other end into a metal coffee can, disable the ignition by grounding the coil wire (HV) pulled from the center of the dist cap, so as not to get a spark, then crank the engine for 20 seconds, you should have at least a pint of gas in the can, if you do, then put everything back together, that makes the choices left, carburetor, (fuel filter if one is in the carb by the fuel line), and ignition problem. If it failed the test, then the choices are fuel pump, crimped line, bad rubber (neoprene) line by the fuel tank, plugged sock filter in the fuel tank. Sometimes the only way to tell if the points and cond is bad is to replace them, if you buy a set try to get the points that have a phenolic rubbing block and not nylon, they will last longer, have you checked your spark plug gap? And does the dist have the dual vacuum advance, if so, the timing is set per the manual, as one diaphragm advances the timing and the other retards the timing. Also use a ohm meter to check the spark plug wires and coil wire, max is 1K ohms per inch of wire for resistance wire. And what engine and carb are we talking about, I6, V8, 1B,2B, or 4B? Post your results. Good Luck.
