Hey guys...I'm havin a problem with my 97 stang. The check engine light came on today while i was at a stop light and it died. It fired back up, but I've been noticing it idling out of control. It will drop to 500 or so then shoot up to 1500 and stabilize at a 1000. I do not think it could be the TPS sensor becuase I just replaced that. I do not think it is missing because it is still pretty smooth. It do have a superchip for it and ever since I have put that on it lowered my idle. Should I maybe turn up the idle screw? Or check the plugs?

Check your PCV valve as that will screw up your idle. I had the same issue when the hose was kinked and messed everything up. The car wanted to break the rear tires loose when at a light while in drive.

Might also be the IAC (Idle Air Control valve).
Mine failed aout 3 months ago. Replaced it and runs fine now.
