You can use the car wash, just do not direct the spray at the stripe edge. It will lift the stripe.

I use a nice soft soapy cotton cloth to hand wash the car. If the car has dirt sprayed up from the wheels I might take it to the car wash to knock off some of the rough stuff.

If you wax then you may need to us a toothbrush to knock off the wax at the edge of the stripes, be careful not to rub the bristles under the stripe.
