My 01 3.8 v6 Mustang has the idle problems associated with a dirty iac so I thought I would clean it. But I don't see it on the engine. Duh! So where the heck is it, and although I've read about taking it off and spraying it with carb cleaner what and how should I lube the valve again before I put it back in? I obviously don't want to gunk it up again. I also was thinking of cleaning my K+N air filter but how do I pull that out to clean? I've already watched video on actually spraying it and cleaning. Reason being that I bought the car last Dec. and it has those high idle issues so I don't know how long the cai has been in, and the iac since it was clean before. Thanks...

IAC is at the throttle body

is it a k&n cai? im pretty sure the filter isn't in the fender so it should be fairly easy to pull out of there with just a screwdriver to loosen clamp

Yes, it's K+N, I thought it was in the fender but maybe not? Also wondering about where to find the iac and what and how to lube it once I've taken it off and cleaned it if anyone has info.

The IAC is on the back side of the intake manifold, almost hidden from view.

It is the small cylinder at the far upper left of the following:

You can just make it out below and to the right of the plug wire bundle.

I would clean out the soot with carb cleaner and compressed air.

I am not sure what the recommended lube might be. A shot of spray silicon or maybe lock cylinder graphite. Nothing greasy or sticky though...
