On my 90 Gt the clutch engages within an inch or two at the top of the clutch pedal travel right before the pedal is completely let the whole way out. Is this a problem or will this wear anything out. I have read on this site before that it is not good if the clutch engages right off the floor at the bottom of the pedal travel but what about at the top. Also the cable and quadrant are in good shape and clutch has 15,000 miles on it.

also the car will chirp the tires from first to second gear so I know the clutch is not slipping but It is hard to modulate the pedal sometimes while taking off because it is so close to the top of the travel but I am out of adjustment room.

My clutch is set up the same way. My brothers was the same on his 88. It will not harm it at all and will reduce your shift time.:gringreen

It shouldn't hurt anything but if you're uncomfortable, get an adjustable cable, quadrant and firewall adjuster. Then you can pretty much put the engagement point where you want it.
