Just bought a 65 coupe with a 289 and I want to do a complete exhaust system from new headers to the rear bumper. Does anyone make a complete system? I don't want to cobble something together with flex tube and a bunch of leaking couplings. I don't have a welder.
Are there any exhaust systems that bolt to existing header systems?
Thanks,
Jeff

there are several systems out there like the american thunder system from flowmaster. I have always just taken the car to the local exhaust shop. they can frequently bend up a decent exhaust system for about the same cost as buying one and they weld it. the system for my daughters 67 with dual flowmasters and h pipe was about 400.00 from header to tailpipe.

Thanks but I live in northern Wisconsin where the roads are are full of snow, slush, salt and sand until May. The nearest muffler place is 75 miles away.Unless I want to wait until spring, I'll be doing ithis by myself. While surfing the net, I found several systems with flanged crossovers but wanted to know if anyone had experience with a "bolt together" installation.

There are tons of complete kits, and I've always told people not to do it, just go to an exhaust shop so they can bend and fit the pipes as needed. Well, I went against this own advice and am now regretting it. It took some fab to get my H pipe so it could mount up to my header collector reducer, and I am having troubles with the tail pipes now. They are 8 inches too low! I thought this would be the easy part. Wished I would have just waited until spring and taken it into a shop.

As has been said, there are a lot of kits, but if you don't weld the joints you will have lots of clamps--no way around it. I put a Magnaflow kit in my '66 coupe, and I don't weld either. I think it would mate just fine with long tube headers. I have shorty headers, so had to use some flex to mate with the pipes, which I hope to get replaced one of these days. I had the same problem as Lizer and went through several iterations before I got the mufflers and pipes up high enough.

If you are fitting a system to the well-known factory manifolds (I don't think so?) then the factory-original repro systems sold today fit very nicely and easily for around $325 including a new H-pipe. There is so much variation in headers I would not expect to find any good fitting complete systems to fit them which agrees with what everyone above is saying.

Correct, I want headers, not factory manifolds. I hoped to find a manufacturer that sells a complete kit but it's looking like no such company exists.

Flowmaster offers a set of Scavenger Series Elite Headers for your Mustang, as well as an American Thunder Header-back exhaust system. Due to production variances, you may have to add a little bit of pipe to make the connection between the headers and the system. Ideally, you will want to have everything welded so if you purchase these parts from us, or a similar setup from a different manufacturer, you could bring it all to an exhaust shop and have them install it for a fairly low price and have a fully engineered system. Good luck!

Thanks, That's great news.
