I'm thinking about a stroker kit for my 302 ............... how much compression ratio can you have and still be able to run pump gas ???? ................ regular or super ????:headscratch:

Naturally aspirated, I wouldn't go much higher than 10.5:1 or 11:1, especially not with the price of premium and race fuel these days. If you're planning a turbo or s/c you will probably end up having to drop it down at least 2 points. Higher compression ratio gets you more power at the expense of reduced longevity and more heat.

What exactly is included in the stroker "kit"?

crank, rods , pistons , rings , bearings ............ planning to top it off with an edelbrock top end kit ( heads ,cam , intake) .............................. so you are saying premium 92 octane will be fine up to 11;1 ?????
Static compression is one of the things that determine propensity for detonation. But not the only thing. The other two major facters are altitude, and intake valve closing point. Along with everything else, they will determine you effective cylinder pressures. You can find a calculater here: Boost Compression Ratio Calculator It's for a Harley engine, but the calculations are the same for a V8.

My static compression is 10.8, but I usually use mid grade pump gas without any problems at all. I also live at 6,400' ASL, and have a huge cam. My effective cylinder pressures are only 180psi.
