hello everyone, i have a question regarding a leak i saw. so i took off the coolant reservoir cap a few days ago to better check the level, put it back and i thought i tightened it pretty well. drove the car for a week, all was fine. today i saw this huge puddle under my car. pop the hood, there's coolant leaking from the cap. now i'm a bit confused because i drove the car for a week and no leaks.

i tightened it again until it clicked 3 times, kind of like it clicks when you put the gas cap and keep spinning. drove the car for 1 hour and no leaks.

now i'm wondering, do i not know how to tighten this properly ? why did it took 1 week to leak ? also do i need a new cap ?

I second Bullitt95. Just replace the cap.

I've had these reservoir caps literally fall apart in my hand when they wear out. They unscrew from the reservoir tank and then hang up in the fill-port. One or two times pulling them off is all it takes to mess them up before they fall apart and you have two halves of the cap in your hand.
