I have an Old Air shrouded electrical cooling fan. One of the wires leading to the fan motor gets hot enough to melt the plastic on the relay base.

I do not think this is correct. Any ideas?

Which wire is getting hot? I have that same fan and wired it up with no problems, though I don't use it any longer.

I'm colorblind but it looks to be blue.

Is that wire anywhere close to heat like the exhaust?Or is it the wire its self getting hot that would mean there is a short or its hooked up wrong.

The wire itself and only that one. The unit works properly in that it comes on and turns off at the proper temps. It just runs alot in warmer weather.
