I am planning on adding a Roush TVS 575 supercharger kit in the very near future to my 2014 GT.

Aside from this major upgrade, the only other performance mods I intend are headers (install with supercharger) and a cat back exhaust system. Dyno tune. I'm not including suspension system upgrades here, but there will be some of those too.

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I had some questions:

1) Is the stock cooling system sufficient? Over-heating is a major concern of mine (borderline paranoia). I live in the deep south.

2) What have others done that has been effective? I do have a Boss 302 radiator and oil cooler not yet installed. Is that enough? Are there any compatibility issues with those and the Roush TVS system (specifically intercooler placement & plumbing)?

As always, I appreciate the forum's wisdom. Thank you in advance.

Don't install the oil cooler. It uses your engine coolant to cool the oil....which heats up the coolant. If you want a real cooler get the cooltech/setrab setup (or similar). Probably want to thermostatically control it if you drive in cold temps?

Boss 302 Oil Cooler - No Thermostat - CoolTechLLC

Just as a frame of reference...Boss 302's overheat during 30 minutes Texas track sessions. GT's do not. Probably a combination of lower revs and no oil cooler (coolant heater) and possibly that transmission scoop thing.

Waterless coolant. There's a few different manufacturers and types, but I'm reading good things about them. No corrosion, a much higher boiling point, and your cooling system doesn't run under such pressure....plus a lot of other benefits I'm still reading up on.

There's also a kit that runs a coolant line between the two cylinder heads at the back of the motor, and I believe this helps the ECU read coolant temps better, more accurately.

If you aren't road coursing it, it will be fine. There is a lot of TVS cars here in Phoenix and they run fine even in the 120F weather. Now you can't go beating on the car, but they aren't going to overheat just driving around or idling.

Thanks for the replies

Based on the feedback, I can return the oil cooler. I had doubts about that.

But I will plan to install the radiator. It is a direct replacement and I cannot see how bigger wouldn't be better.

Appreciate the testimonials from the Arizon enthusiasts.

I have the Roush phase 1 kit on my ‘14 GT. It gets plenty hot here in Las Vegas and the surrounding Mojave desert in the summer time. The OEM fan from a 2013-14 Shelby GT500 is a direct swap on your ‘14 GT. My twin coolant overflow tanks needed to be drained and moved out of the way. Ford racing also has the fan under part number: M-8C607-MSVT. As already mentioned, the stock cooling system is adequate, but I wanted a bit more cooling ability. The left side-by-side comparison pic is lifted off the ‘net, second pic shows mine with the slats open, third pic is the OEM box label. Notice the extra fan blade.

The Mishomoto oil cooler is a true air cooler and it has a thermostat. Cheaper than the Cooltech piece.

Just looked that up...doesn't have a sexy Setrab heat exchanger...but half price...hmm...looks interesting.
