I am considering some new mufflers for my 2012 GT 5.0 Vert (6MT, 3.73, FRPP Tune/K&N). I really like the GT SVT the best, then the Borla Touring and Cora Sport (not looking for anything too loud). I have been told that axile backs will NOT increase HP by themselves. However, Cora sport axile backs web site states an increase of 7HP & 4lbs-ft Torque with 154% better flow and 18lbs lighter than stock for the GT 5.0L. So what do you think are the Cora claims true? Any test data done? Will I see the same increase with the GT500 and/or Borla mufflers. If it is true, I may have to go with Cora a lot more $$, but I do like getting better sound and little performance bump. Thanks.

That sounds likely. I know Flowmaster gets about 7-8 HP/torque from their various axle-back exhausts, and something like 17-18 HP and 20 lb ft torque from their 3" cat-back systems. Thing is, with over 400 HP, do you really think you're going to feel 5-10 HP? I know I don't, in mine.

Good point. I am not sure if you could tell, but every little bit helps.

Brings up an interesting thought/question at what point would one notice a performance improvement? Would it be at 5% or about 20 HP? I would estimate 7-10% you would be able to tell, but I am not an expert. Thoughts, comments, etc

It depends where the power occurs? What the vendors won't tell you is that usually where the power is "made" is in a useless area. Lots of snake oil out there. If you are doing it for the sound, so be it. Don't think you'll get any power though; it will be a letdown.

I remember the people here who thought they could feel a supercharger feel by putting 92 octane in instead of 87. You will not notice 10hp.
