Good Morning Guys.

My wife just bought me a cam for my 90 LX 5.0 :bigthumbsup to go along with a set of trick flow heads I’m getting from a friend. My question is the cam (crane) came with an instruction sheet that said to use the shorter of the two dowel pins but the box didn’t include them. I did some searching online and it looks like as long as the dowel does not protrude past the snout of the cam than I should be ok with the length up till that point. The local mill and supply had a 5/16x1.5 inch steel dowel that I cut down to 1.25. Will this work ok and is what I read correct? If possible I’m going to try and reused the OEM one but since I’ll be starting the project Sunday morning I wanted to at least have a backup option in place.

Thanks in advance.

You can use the OEM pin, or use it to measure for length of the new one.

Thank you. I was able to get the stock pin out with minimal effort so I was able to reuse it.
