If you're looking for a good option on a ram air design I would suggest the Vis Racing Dominator. I think this one looks more like it was designed to fit the Mustang. I think Vis may offer a fiberglass option as well however Black cars are one of the few that can pull off CF with no paint and get away with it.

Depends if you are actually going to run a RAM Air Intake system. They all look good and now is based on your own personal preferences.

They will all weigh more than the stock aluminum hood, add weight = slower car...
This was my initial worry. I looked at them on my STI but that had an aluminum hood as well and most of the CF hoods added a few pounds. Some guys over on one of the other forums is installing the Dominator hood soon. He said he's going to weigh them both to see what the difference is.

ram air is a myth unless you're pulling it from the front grill/air dam area where the air is actually getting 'bottled up' at speed. Otherwise 'ram air' is trying to suck air from a low pressure zone as the air is passed over the hood. In order to get an effective ram air from the top-of-the hood position, the scoop would need to stick up nearly a foot! (look at some windtunnel tests on these cars then go and check out how a Pro-Stock dragster is set up you'll see what I mean). Even then you'll probably never see more than 1/2 pound of 'boost' even at speeds over 100mph. The biggest advantage is sucking direct cool air from outside instead of from inside the 200 degree engine bay and that's where most of the 'so claimed' gains these ram air hoods claim comes from. Especially since it's nearly impossible to accurately simulate a true ram air effect on a dyno (unless you have a hurricane machine in front of the car!!)

Cowl hoods are effective at doing two things. Extracting heat from the engine bay and reducing the tendency of the nose to lift during high speed driving by reducing the air pressure under the hood/inside the engine bay. Plus they look seriously badass.:bigthumbsup

The Steeda hood I see there looks like more of another heat extractor.

Out of the three you've listed, I'd pick the cowl hood just based on personal taste. If you want ram air, look into solutions that will allow you to pull it in from the nose of the car - not off the top of the hood.:nono:

-HD:winks

p.s. That hood wrxified posted looks dead sexy!! (in spite of it being another useless hood-located ram air attempt)

The stalker hood is pretty nice, but I'm not too fond of any of the other ones posted here.

What about a stock GT500 hood?

I like the bbr cowl hood. Looks like it's a part of the design of the car. The Cervini hood looks like Dodge's design team got called in to come up with a hood.
I like your way of thinking (I wonder why?) :shigrin

But I didn't vote, as I don't know the OP's reasons are for wanting an aftermarket hood. Personally, I've always been a fan of the Cobra Jet, so I figured why not borrow a slice of it?

If my 'glass BBR cowl weighs any more than the stock aluminum hood, I certainly couldn't tell by holding it up by myself, as both hoods are as light as a feather. I don't think a difference of maybe 3 pounds is going to matter on a DD, especially a N/A V6.

Go with what rattles your chain.

Well there you go! The OP wanted function over form... Pro Stock hood is the answer:smartass:

remember most these pics of these hoods are on mustangs with skirt packages or a slightly more agressive look..personally I think some of them are just too much for a V6 especially if the cars not modified. I remember seeing the cervini hood on a stock v6 front end..didnt flow well at all

they made the gone in 60 seconds hood for the 2011's
i've only seen one pic and it looked like a drawing of a slightly modified stock hood. maybe if i see it on an actual car it would change my mind

that's the one i'm most likely leaning toward but it's still a ways off. mostly just getting other's thoughts right now since i'm nowhere near done with the engine yet

now that is a bad ass looking hood, i wonder why it's only $600 and if it's real CF. plus it doesn't say if it's functional or not (unless i just skipped it)

i was talking to my parents neighbor about his since he was thinking of going CF but he hasn't pulled the trigger yet so maybe IF he does he'll feel too excited and just offer it for free HAHA (very much wishful thinking)

my reasons are MOSTLY to be different but at the same time not going to let it be a waste of time/money and be just for looks

Holy hell. If that really weighs the 40 lbs it says it does I'd be surprised. I think that VIS racing 3" CF cowl hood weighs 16 lbs.
and i'll bet most of the price of it is paying for the VIS label on it haha. i keep hearing different things about CF weight compared to stock, some wrote it was way lighter some put not worth the price since it was close to stock. guess it depends on the reviewer
