Cross Threaded Shifter

914 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  merkerguitars
Hey guys, I just bought a hurst ball shift knob for my car, and the previous owner cross threaded the post that the knob goes onto. The old shifter fits but I had to force the new one on....Is there any way to fix the threads on the old post? If not, can I replace it? Thanks.

Have you considered a new shifter?...They are very easy to change and work very well...6 bolts and some silicone..
I already have a hurst short throw.
Cant you just replace the top handle and thread on a new shifter? Steeda sells them as well as other brands.

I was gonna say, might as well do that, you could run a die over the lever to clean up the threads but it depends on how bad he stripped it out.
