i have a 08' gt 5 speed only things i have done to it so far is i replaced the stock air filter with a K&N performance one and swaped the stock mufflers for two flow master super 40's i havent had a chance to get it to a dyno and was wondering if any one could gusse what im pushing thanks
If I am wrong in this I apologise but I think that the 98 4.6 sohc were 210HP and the added K&N filter say 6-8 hp. I would not really think that the mufflers alone would give you any as you did not chage the flow characterists up to them but lets say 10 HP and again only a guess.
The reason the hp numbers are low on the 98 is they did not had the PI heads. If you did that swap you would gain 40-50 HP right their and if in doing the heads also did the cams say Comp Cams af270ah and springs change, then you would get even more. Then a move to headers and large tube exhaust would be a good step. The CAI was a good place and you did that first, as it is usually not a buget breaker and it will have good return that grows with each of the rest mentioned above. What it all comes down to is budget and if you are doing it yourself or have some one else do it. I will menion along the way that as you do get more hp you will need to look at the fuel pump and injectors as well. This should all then have a tune done and the most gains will then be had. When budget gets really big then forced ionduction will make you smile at the gains there.
Hey Fixer! I think he's talking about a 2008. That is good insight on the 98 though as they really respond to the PI upgrade. The exhaust was changed a bit from the 97 models so they actually have 225 hp. Still weak but better than my puny 1996 GT. :bigthumbsup
Welcome to AFM Black Mamba! Get a tune on that car and you'll see some good hp gains. Even a canned tune will net you more power than the conservative factory settings. Simply changing the mufflers and the air filter won't typically add more than 1 or 2 hp at best but it will sound better! Browse around and have fun and be prepared to learn here!

Yeah sorry my bad I saw it as a 98 and so yes his is really a much higher motor then way back then. I need to get better glasses when I am reading I am blind in one eye and so I have made many errors when I read too fast.
You guys have to stop, asking if anyone can tell you what you're running for power at the wheels. Think about it, you haven't done anything worth any power. You changed your air filter, and mufflers and nothing else. I wouldn't waste my money, taking it to a dyno yet. Wait until you have some money to spend, then do at least a three piece combo. Swap your stock exhaust complete, for long tube headers, an X pipe with free flowing cats. Then swap out your cams, and heads along with a custom dyno tune because now you'll need it. After the changes have been made, you should have made at least a 150 rwhp gain with the right combo. Everyone on this site, can take a guess and all be off by a long shot. A stock 08 GT 5 speed, should make anywhere between 240 and 255 rwhp. With the changes that you made, you might have added 15 rwhp. Save your money, and make the right changes and you'll make some serious gains without having to open your motor for Nitrous, or a Turbo, or Supercharger for forged internals, Mike. :bigthumbsup:bigthumbsup
