So here's my debate:
I dual exhaust, I've been putting it off for years (how they fly by) and I can't stand it anymore.

I know the 2nd option is pricier but it may sound better due to the longtubes and H pipe...

I honestly like Pypes kit. It was easy to install and everything was there for for it. And since, I've been upgrading it to my liking by adding my headers and swapping out the mufflers. It's a decent kit for a weekend warrior and can be installed in about 4 hours or so(that's how long it took me anyway.) If you insist on those long tubes, however, then maybe making your own kit would be a good way to go, but consider the emissions test if your state has it. Those long tubes won't pass unless you get a shorty h-pipe with cats. Maybe consider shorty headers? I've heard the long tubes on our 4.0s and it's awful in my opinion. Raspy and obnoxious. But it's up to you.

I'm not a fan of long tubes either. The premade kits are usually really nice and go together well. The only special tool that i needed was a sawzall.

I have a dynomax kit w/ x-pipe and i couldn't be happier.

There are a couple issues with the second option. First that H pipe will need some modification to fit on the V6. You would be better off getting one that was made for the V6 or have one made. And as for sounding better, longtubes sound like crap on the 4.0, and pair that with no cats it will just sound empty, hollow, and raspy. It will be very loud though. I would recommend shorty headers or the stock ones, they are actually pretty good. I have the Mac ProChamber H pipe and I really like it. It has a nice sound and isn't loud at all. I do have GT takeoffs though. The Pypes kit is a good deal and seems to be pretty well liked. The sound is a bit higher pitched than I like, but that's just my opinion. Check out youtube there is a ton of videos that can help you out

Yeah I appreciate all your input. I've been looking through YouTube and it's just been frustrating me more. There are too many options haha.
I like the Dynomax sound. Although Pypes is very popular too.

Yeah there are quite a few ways you can go. It usually takes people a few tries to get the sound they want

Hence why I bought my Pypes kit. It was cheap, and from what I heard on YouTube, the forums etc, I liked the sound. Well, when I got it, I was happy but not satisfied, so I've been upgrading. Now it sounds like a beast. And I've not spent more than $600 total! My next goal is hi flow cats to make it a little louder and then I think I'll be done. Unless I get ahold of a boss 302 h-pipe with the extra side exit pipes... Hehe

+1 on the Pypes kit
I got the kit with no mufflers (SFM65) and added pair of GT takeoffs. Only thing I didn't like was the driver side muffler hangers. They are flimsy and don't hold the muffler steady. Replacing mine with OEM hangers. Noticed a nice boost in performance and sounds good, too.

Pypes are good. I have them on my car and they sound very deep and loud. The kit on AM is very good and seems to be holding up pretty well. Plus those 4 inch tips never get old :bigthumbsup

My kit originally came with the gt take offs. I added Pypes violators and M2 shorty headers to it. I'm aiming to get Pypes hi-flows soon. And i possibly have a 2012 boss 302 h-pipe lined up. And I do have a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBO96dCPqVA&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Where'd you order the kit with no mufflers?? I got 2 GT takeoffs and just need from the cats back. Haven't looked too hard yet, but hadn't noticed just that sold.

I believe you can order it direct from Pypes. But you can order any cat back kit for a GT if you want. That's all the Pypes kit is, their GT x-pipe and midpipes.

Cool....I got to looking and found the x-pipe for 30 + shipping on ebay, couldn't find the mid pipes but they're only 180 from pypes. So may go that route.

Yeah just make sure you get all the hardware. You need two band clamps on each end of the x-pipe. Two for cats to x-pipe and two for x-pipe to midpipes. 4 total. I don't know if the x-pipe you're looking at comes with hardware or not. Which is why a kit is ideal. Maybe email Pypes.
