So, like in my intro i'm a hotrodder-bred guy who breaks convention. I don't like my auto shifter and so i'm making my own.
I've sourced a guy to make the sleeve to run over the block inside the t-handle and so i can put whatever thread receiver i need.
Goal: hurst style shifter w/fixed finger hook and detent knob. 4-6" straight stick if i have to, preferably with a single bend.
Problem: lokar doesn't make bent sticks that short and they're the only people with a hollow one....also they're ~$120 no matter the size.
Question: are there any shifters with reverse lockout from any other mustangs/classic cars that i can use that fit my desired parameters?
Can i cut and rethread them or are shifter sticks too brittle?
If they are not too brittle to rethread, does that mean i can heat and bend one?
Thanks for any ideas to further my new age hotrodder dreams
I REALLY want to put this knob in my car (because i can, even though its an auto š¤£)
