Dealer said I could do all the "unwrapping"

My '06 GT has scheduled delivery date for Nov 8th. I talked with my salesman on the phone about how the car would be "handled"..... He told me he has a few customers who are particular (and he said I was, with no disrespect...just that I "cared" more than some) and they didn't touch their cars when they came in. THey jsut unloaded them and drove them into the shop and called them. He suggested that I could do all the prep or as much/little as I wanted to. I would just get with them and point out things I would do. I am very happy about that option.

My question:
What does it look like when it comes in?
What needs to be done before the customer gets it?

Check out my link to Car Domain.com My dealer didn't detail my car as per my request. All the dealer has to do is the pre-delivery checklist, which includes making sure all fluids are full, filling your tank (at least my dealer) etc. :wavey

I don't see things that I had seen others come from the factory with, on yours.... such as plastic on the seats, the wheel wrapped in plastic and protective panels on the exterior... they must have already done this right?

I ordered two other SUV's and I have pictures of them coming off the transport as well. Nice for the baby book!

This may help, it's supposed to be the dealer prep checklist:

dude theres no platic on the car around the hood or doors or bumper like there should be...was there plastic inside? i dont think the dealer is being too honest about you being first to get a crack at it

What you see coming off the transport is the way they send em. No plastic on the outside... only during the build process do they put that blue plastic on.

I had them go ahead and remove the plastic from the seats to inspect for damaged leather. I didn't want to get it home, remove the plastic, find a cut or something, and try to prove it wasn't my fault. All other plastic was still on the interior satin pieces. :wavey

when mine was delivered it had that plastic/tape whatever it was wrapped around the hood and fenders and bumper covers
Here are a few pics of mine straight off the truck.
I know no one else removed anything because I drove it off the truck myself.

If you want to be a "collector", I would take everything off myself, do a thorough inspection, then have THEM wash and detail it, then another thorough inspection before you take delivery.

Here's what all I took off or out of the car:
front and rear blue plastic
front and rear seat protectors
floorboard plastic
door sill plastic
main window sticker
misc. window stickers
steering wheel plastic wrap
license plate screws
Work order sheet
Shipping/VIN UPC code page
Inspection tag
Air Bag tag (hanging in the glove box)
Extra key with a plastic UPC tag
Extra key fob (mine's still in the plastic it came in)
Plastic floor mat protector
Antenna (which comes in a paper bag)
Styrofoam on doors

And here's a hard one to get. The actual delivery receipt from the trucking company the dealership has to sign saying they accept the car.

One cool thing is there's a sticker on one of the seat protectors that is a "picture" guide of what your car gets.

I think that's everything. Someone correct me if it's not.

I think that's everything.

thanks stangnut...i knew i wasnt crazy...thats what mine looked like
yup, looks like mine, but there was no outside plastic on mine when I got there, but the one next to me did. And I know no one touched it. Wierd.

I guess it's the luck of the draw whether you get all the plastic or not. There were two other stangs on the transport along with mne. None had the plastic on the outside or on the steering wheel. Go figure.
I wonder if it depends on how the vehicle is destined to be transported. Maybe if it is on a transport truck the entire way, you get the plastic. I know mine was transported by rail to OKC, then trucked to Texas (about 2 hours away from OKC). Your guess is as good as mine. :wavey
