hey i have a diablosport preadator for my automatic v6 and im getting a 5spd gt soon and i was wondering if its worth keeping the tuner. i helped a lot with changing the shift points in my auto but now that im going to have a manual i was wondering what this would acually do for it. i was planning on getting a cam put in too and then was going to do a dyno tune so i dont know if i should just sell the tuner or keep it?

Can he load the dyno tune into your tuner?
if he can load the dyno tune into ur tuner definatly keep it if not keep the tuner till you get the dyno tune u just need to tell diablo the diffrent comp code on ur gt
whats the difference between just bringing my car in and having them dyno tune it vs having them download the dynotune to the diablosport?
hold the phone i am not so sure the predator will work for your gt i think they are 2 differant devices i know differant years have differant devices. i would loookin to it just to be sure the computers are changed.
Call diablosport and see if it will work for the GT. Its worth having, it adds some power and mileage, allows to read codes, compensate for gears, etc. Most places that dyno tune either use the predator or sct, find out which one your tuner uses, but I would keep it as long as it will work for the GT, and maybe even if it doesn't, any predator will read codes on any obd-II equipped car so that alone makes it worth having.
What year is the V6 and the GT. Diablosport tuner part #U7146 will cover all V-6 to v-8, including Mach one Murader and NA Cobras. Starting in year 1999-2004. If your dyno tuner uses diablosport software he will most likely download your custom tune to your programmer and then use the programmer to tune the actual car. That way you will have the original factory tune as a back-up.
they are both 2001 and the diablosport works on both so i should be good:bigthumbsup
Yeah definitely keep it, the U7146 is compatable for all NA 99-04's! A custom Dyno tune can run up to $500 a custom E-mail one from a Diablo CMR Software tuner is much less, $150-$200 with revisions!

ohhhhh okay, ya i thought i would be paying the same price for the dyno tune either way thats why i didnt see the point in keeping the diablosport. but i will def keep it if its cheaper for the dyno. thanks
Yeah there's a few Mustang Speed shops around the country that e-mail you a Custom Tune for your Mods and the type of hand held you have, then you datalog parameters that the Tuner wants to see like spark advance, fuel trim, maf counts and its voltage, injector pulse width, etc.. He'll review your logs and make a revised Custom tune for you to import to the ECU!:bigthumbsup
sweet, thanks for all the info everyone:bigthumbsup
Sorry if this bursts your bubble at all. But I'm pretty sure once you do your first tune with a Diablo Sport tuner it mates with your vin number and you cannot use it on multiple cars. Once you use it on one, you're screwed with the other. You might want to check up on that one.

Read Page 12 4th paragraph.
no you can put the factory tune back on the car and use it on a different car. you just cant tune multiple cars at the same time

so your saying i dont need a dyno tune for the cam?

oh, my bad. thought you were keepin the other one. GAME ON!:bigthumbsup
Depends on the cam. Most anything stage 3 and higher will need some custom tuning. But if you want to stay cheep for a while the Diablo tune should still be safe to run with most cam stage one and two cam upgrades. But if you combine them with ported/aftermarket heads. Then yes you will need to see a little dyno time. Because by then you will probably need to upgrade your fuel system as well.
You will need either your tuner or a chip to do the Dyno tune. I got mine done and Brent than loaded the tune from his computer to my Diablo and up loaded to my car. So if you already have the tuner you will not need to by a chip. Also it gives you the capability to get biger tires and gears in the rear off road X etc to correct the speedo and O2 as you can modfy the Dyno tune for thoes pramaters after the fact with out going back. Chip you would need to go back.. Keep what you have. Be leary of mail order tunes. Brent said they are no better than the caned tune from Diablo.

I agree but there are a few High End shops that tune through both Dyno and E-mail that have some pretty Damm strong reputations and a stable of BIG HP cars!
