Made 3 runs at the trak last week, had a blast, but my clutch feels softer now seems to let out sooner. Did I ruin it or just get it broke in?:dunce:

I'm not an expert on man tranny's, but I think if you burnt the clutch out you would see other signs, not just the clutch being soft.

throw it into 4th or 5th at a reasonable rate of speed, and then tromp the gas...what happens??
if it slips yer clutch is smoked..
i can't see you smoking it after just a few runs unless you rode the pedal like mad..

Naw didnt ride it, but it did seem to smell a bit that night. I had a good 60 time of under 2 secs twice. Good for me anyway.

Whiplash what do u mean by tromp and then if it slips? If what slips exactly? Tires, gears grind etc... Sorry its been twenty years since I had a manny tranny.
Anyway it just seems softer now. And that it engages sooner ie closer to the floor.

By "slips" he means if your RPM gauge soars to redline and you go no faster or even slower, and you don't hear your tires screeching...then your clutch may be slipping.

These stock clutches are pretty durable, guys with 400+ rwhp are trashing them at weekly drags and they are still working.
That said, a few guy have cooked em already.

How many miles are on your car?

They go... it depends on how you drive... If you drive on the track and have +300 RWHP and/or stickies I'd think about how I drive, or get a clutch and not have to worry... and while I have all that open I'd throw in a LW FW for some more power and quicker revs... kinda like gearing and power in one mod! :happyhapp
