Well I bought two sets of these speakers to replace the door and rear deck speakers in my mustang. I've always heard that they are known for sound quality and are worth the money you spend on them. I figured anything has to be better than stock.
So I installed them today. Only two of the original body holes would line up on any speaker, so I had to use a .250" rattail file to widen the mounting holes of the speakers by about 1/8th inch to get them to line up. No huge deal, just an inconvinience. Got them all installed and turned the car on. Boy what a disappointment. The mids and some highs are a little better than they were, but what I did gain in mids I lost and then some as far as any low or bass goes. Even compared to the stock speakers.
I know the speakers are only getting 15 or 20watts each, if not less. So I could amp the four of them, but then I'd have to get a line converter, re-route all the wires, run another amp, etc. Plus I really don't want to have to take apart the system in my other car because I spent a lot of time getting those speakers tweaked in and sounding good. So any advice on what I should do? I know amping them will make them louder, but will the bass come back or should I throw two of the stocks back in to at least get a little more bass? (yes I really did just say that...unfortunately)
