Hey guys, this might be a stupid question but I was wondering if my 87 lx 5.0 came with a posi rear? Because only one tire spins ( passenger side). If they did come with a posi then is there any possible way its not working because im low on diff fluid? Thanks:bigthumbsup

I know in 89 they came with limited slip and low fluid can definitely cause it not to work. If you're low on fluid top it off immediately since the limited slip is only a small part of your worries.... those bearings and gears need oil too.

Your 8.8 rear has a trac lok which is a limited slip. Now you are doing a one wheel peel then it most likely needs to be rebuilt and that requires open the diff to remove the carrier for a rebuild and it's not to costly.

Yes you have limited slip and it will need to be rebuilt. You may as well install gears while ur at it. I know the new clutches are only 100 bucks
so while we've got this going... it came out as early as the svo correct? what year did it start in the 5.0? all models?

Traction-Lok was required/included with the turbo and 5-liter engines starting in '82. Model/trim level (LX, GT, SVO, etc.) makes no difference.
