Can anyone explain the difference between these two parts when I google iac for 2012 v6 noting comes up, but when I google purge valve I see what’s right near the throttle body, so earlier cars have iac and newer just purge?
In a nutshell, the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve allows a small amount of air into the intake to allow for idling. Otherwise the closed throttle plates would choke the engine, and prevent idling. Newer models don’t use an IAC, the throttle valve remains slightly open to allow for the air as needed.
A purge control vale allows purging fumes from the evaporative emissions canister (charcoal canister), into the intake system. This is to prevent hydrocarbon vapors venting into the atmosphere.
