Hello all, I recently bought myself a daily driver for a cheap price to drive in the winter instead of the mustang like I originally intended.

I'm just wondering if my theory is correct. Should I buy a mustang in the winter (should be cheaper, correct?) and then pay $100 a month for storage until spring, or should I just buy one right when Spring starts and then I won't have to worry about storage pricing? (should be more expensive as everybody wants a fun spring/summer driver, correct?)

I live in central WI and I am willing to venture out to MN and Chicago for a nice mustang, as their prices seem much more reasonable over there. But still, the prices are astronomically high. A 2001 mustang GT premium edition on craigslist is about $5400 in excellent condition. So why do I not find a stang in that price range on craigslist? It's a little frustrating as I've been searching for a mustang since last March. I've seen a couple good deals but I didn't have the money until now.

Thanks for the help everybody :bigthumbsup

I bought mine on March 3 -- and there were DOZENS of Mustangs on the lot...

Last weekend, I went to the dealership for some secheduled maintenance, and burned some time walking through the lot (looking for Mustangs). There were only TWO Mustangs on the entire lot!

I think Mustang sales probably dip in the winter, but I don't know that the price will dip as well. It looks like my local dealer is playing the law of supply and demand... ;)

It may not be wise to buy a GT in the winter then store it, since the amount that you saved on said GT would be spent on storing it.

Your theory is correct about the price being lower in winter months as opposed to summer. I was told this at a dealer when I was looking for my mustang. My 2 cents would be to keep looking and keep saving your money, as I'm sure that they are pushing the SUV's right now and you might find what you are looking for or better. But again, this is at a dealer. A private sale is different, but look at those too.

I hope this helps, and good luck in your search!

I bought my GT back in February for 8.7k and that was with 57xxx miles. I keep checking back online for other GT's when I'm bored ha :) Anyway though, I have found a lot of 02-04 GT's for dirt cheap with insane low miles. I would say they seem to go for lower in the winter months.

I'll tell you what will lower the price....$4 gas, and in Cali I bet they can't give one away since gas it is $5-6 a gallon...gotta love those libs..."ok, we'll forgo the environment and take "winter gas" early to lower the price"...hah, puff on you people
