Hello,

I have a 1967 mustang in the shop about to get painted. I know I wanted it blue but the problem was that up until now I did not know what shade I wanted.

But after searching the gallery on this site I found a blue I really like, unfortunately I have no idea how to find the color code or color name.

I hope you guys can help me out.

Below are three links that link to three different pics on this site, can anyone tell me what is the name or code of any of these blues are, (also, is the blue on any of these cars the same?)

link 1: 1967 Coupe Pictures - 1967 Coupe Photos - Mustang Picture Gallery - AllFordMustangs.com

link 2: 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe Pictures - 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe Photos - Mustang Picture Gallery - AllFordMustangs.com

link 3: Vintage Mustang Forums - mstubbs007's Album: Out of the Blue - Picture

Thank you in advance!

Well, I checked against this site: 1967 Mustang Colors and I can't find an exact match. Definitely too dark to be Alcapulco Blue. It seems to be a popular color though, it's very nice. Someone should be able help.

thanks for the response mustang man.

yea i tried to compare it to the mustang colors reference but like you said its darker than acapulco blue.

How good a match do you think a car paint shop could give me just by seeing the picture

A good paint shop can make any color under the rainbow that you want. When you see the blue that you like the best, you pick that one. I would definitely give the shop the highest resolution picture you can.

OK, by looking at the pics the first car is a different shade than the other two. The first car looks to be Nightmist Blue to me, a 67 color code of K. The last two look to be Guardsman Blue, a 65 color code of F.

Guardsman is slightly darker than Acapulco Blue, and may actually be mistaking for Acapulco unless an Acapulco car is parked next to it. Nightmist Blue is quite a few shades darker but not as dark as Presidential Blue that was offered in 68. All of those blues are metallics too.

Here's a good color example site, 1964-1973 Mustang Colors

I remember my brother got the same color for his Integra a long time ago and I think it was called kamikaze blue or midnight blue. Something like that.

Guardsman blue is very metallic in sunlight but it is an original shelby color. Those dont look anything factory in my eyes. Look for the blue original gt350's, and thats what guardsman blue will look like i think. I dont think you will like acapulco if those dark colors are what you want. Type it in google images and see all the cars that have it.

Acapulco Blue is similar to the "medium blue metalic" and the "royal metalic blue" that Ford used in previous years. A very strong color that is one of the best that Ford ever had. "Midnight Blue" and "Midnight Blue Mist" are almost black in color and better on the larger cars in my opinion.

is this acapulco blue

Imageshack - 002d.jpg

i dont know why but when i search acapulco blue, i get a whole range of different shades...i doubt its just the lighting of the pic,

..i was told it was because back then there wasnt a standard , so acapulco blue was different depending where the mustang was made.

and midnight / midnight blue mist are much too dark...if ur going that dark you might as well use black :p i think

Have you tried sending personal messages to the posters of the photos in the first 2 links? If they own the cars, they could tell you exactly what color it is :bigthumbsup

yes sir i have but no reply yet though,

I did however find the color for the second link. I looked through all the posts the member had written hoping he had at one time written it in these forums and i scored :)

its called "deep metallic blue" (though i really love the blue used on the 3rd link more)

if i just tell a paint shop i want "deep metallic blue" is there a high chance that they will give me the right paint? or is "deep metallic blue" too broad a term. I would expect a hex number or some kind of number code would be more accurate than a name but i dont know how paints work.
