Hi,
I had a mechanic replace my camshaft synchronizer, after thinking the squeaking noise was the water pump and replacing the pump first.
Any way, I dont know if its psychlogical or what, to me it seems like the car is running much smoother, or maybe its because it seems to have higher RPM when Idling.
I noticed it running close to 1000 RPM when idling, and I can feel the difference in the freeway, since every time i take my foot off of the gas pedal the speed does not drop as fast as it used to.

Question is: is the increase in the idling RPM because the camshaft synchronizer was changed, or the mechanic has increased it.

Thanks

well, the idle RPM is computer controlled.. unless he went and touched the throttle cable and its holding the throttle open, no the cam synchronizer wont affect the idle..

the engine was probably running a little rough previously because of the failing synchro, so swapping to a new one, you'd probably notice the smoothness
