I read on this article Underdrive Pulleys ... Our Testing that they done a dyno test with out the belt and only got 3hp repeatedly. So they estimated only about a .6hp gain with changing pulleys. Anyone out with pulley change experience any difference and was it worth the money spent?

This testing was done on a Saturn. Different cars will respond differently to the pulleys. I feel they respond well to mustangs, it frees up lost hp and it's a cheap and easy mod to do.

I've also heard that people have knocked nearly .1 off their 1/4 mile times with just pulleys.

just installed mine a month ago it's a nice mod you can feel some deference. I'm not saying it'll blow your mind away but it's good for what it's worth. unless your planing to go SC soon it's worth it. If you gonna get it go for Steeda's they are nice cheap and of a good quality.

I'm going to be honest with you. If I had to do it all over again, I'd leave these on the shelf. I couldn't feel a difference whatsoever. I just think that the money could have been spent better elsewhere.

Steeda has a package that includes cai, tuner and pulleys,I am trying to decide if it is worth spending the extra bucks that one or just the cai & tuner

I think it's a good mod but I do have some concerns about using them with a stepped alternator/regulator. I fried my alternator and I'm not 100% convinced that the pulleys may have contributed to its demise.

They are most noticable from a dead stop acceleration. After that it's really hard to tell.

.1 faster in the 1/4 sorry who ever says it did that I think that they might be mistaken. Its all most impossible to say a mod knocked off .1 because .1 can be a factor of driver and weather.

Unless you are getting a 13.2 with EVERY run and then bolt them on and only pull 13.1's then I will believe it but the only cars that I have seen that consistent in the 1/4 are modded way beyond a UDP.

I personally think they are a waste. If you plan on staying N/A and have done every single mod you can do and have some money burning in your pocket then ok.

8rwhp on a UDP LOL some one please show me a dyno sheet were some one actually gained any thing up top like going from 303 to 306rwhp. It will change your dyno curve slightly in the lower RPM's from what I have seen on the dyno with my friends car but if there was any change it horse power up top I give it to the fact that you will never have the same dyno run and same numbers period. Weather changes and so does the temperature and 3hp is not enough to say any thing about.

It takes 15rwhp to even feel a change in your car. I dont understand how any of you can say you feel a difference? When my buddy Mike installed his it made NO difference in his car and he still could not beat my car when I was N/A with the same bolt ons. Only difference in cars was he had a Steeda CAI and I had Tunable Inductions.

Spend the money on a keg of beer it will make you so much more happy :), girls love beer :)

I'm getting mixed reviews here hard to decide, but my thinking is pulleys wouldn't have much effect on a 300 hp engine, after all it only used 3 hp on a whimpy saturn engine.
Call me stupid but I am still new to this site, what do you mean by N/A.

I see your point very much and it's actually one I made to the person who posted about his claimed .1 knock off with pulleys. He said he went to the track and ran 14.6x's consistently with a bone stock SN95, that same day he had pulleys installed and lined it up again and ran 14.5x's consistently so I don't know. He never said what hundredth of a second so it could of just been .01-.05 or something lol.

There are to many good mods out there that I think sit a little higher on the mod chain then UDP's

Yeah I agree there are better mods out there in ranking order of course. Just replying to what the OP posted that's all.

I talked to a friend of mine and he told me not to waste my money. He said they have had somthing to do with oil pump failures on the 3v cars. Anyone have a similar problem yet that had underdrives?

Absolutely untrue. There is no correlation as to how fast you are turning your accessories and your oil pump.
