Dont hear the Supercharger Whine on 11 Shelby

Hey Folks,

Just picked up a 2011 Shelby GT500. This car is amazing! But I have not heard the Supercharger whine as of yet. I've pushed it to 120MPH so far pulling full RPM and see the PSI meter go up but have not heard the whine yet? Windows up and down....Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Have you tried standing in front of the car while the hood is up and having someone rev it up for you? I remember riding in a stock pullied 2009 GT500 and I could just barely hear it.
unless you change the pulley you won't hear it much...my KB was really quiet until I upped the boost...so put "pulley and tune" on your list of "first mods"
Thanks for the info. I assumed I would have to, just looking for all options. What other minor mods will help this beast along?
You could get a nice offroad exhaust set up and let it really scream. What are your goals for the car?
I'd get an aftermarket shifter, cold air intake and possible drag radials and suspension parts for the rear...traction will become a big issue with more boost...
Hey Guys,
Forgot to mention this has the SVT pack and already has drag radials, which still break loose. Has Upgraded pipes too. Goal overall is to have this car as a summer daily driver and hit the local race track a few times a year. Im also in CT and the weather is all over the place. Are Drag Radials the best choice?

well drag radials are great for hot dry weather/pavement....but they are very short lived on the street so I'd take them off and only use them on the track or maybe get a set of full drag slicks on another set of rims
Might as well leave boost alone until you are really good at launching it...
I want to put my gt500 engine in my Cobra, but really more hp isn't what that car needs, you flat out can't get it to hook with street tires and I have suspension mods...so find the happy median of performance and practicality

what kind of suspension mods do you have.

I have Koni shocks and springs, Granatelli upper and lower rear control arms and a Maximum Motorsports rear sway bar...3.73 rear gears
The front is the Koni stuff again, Terminator rack/pinion, maximum motorsports steering shaft, new a arms, tie rods and bushings..CC plates
I also have subframe connectors weld in from Steeda..

It handles pretty damn good, esp compared to stock...I also have Sparco seats so you don't go flying around the car when you take a corner, not to mention it takes about 100lbs of dead weight out of the car

I'm kinda proud of the two piece brake rotors and stainless steel brake lines, it stops like a BMW...no mushiness like stock

I probably forgot some stuff, but that's most of it

yea i was lucky and have some bad a** kenny brown subframes under my car. mm bilstien rear coilovers wit j&m upper and lower control arms. 4.10s with a 31 spline diff and moser 31 spline axles. I am still working on the front end. I think ill go with 03/04 cobra control arms, bilstien coilovers with all new bushing. Then when i swap the new motor in ill probably add a torque arm and panhard bar.

The termi rack is nice to have...it has a "faster turn in" rate, so it really helps bring the steering into the modern era....also the MM steering column takes all the slack out of the wheel...hate to say it, but the car now steers like a Chevy...tight, no wander
Hey Folks,

Just picked up a 2011 Shelby GT500. . . . I have not heard the Supercharger whine as of yet. . . . .
The 2011 has the new TVS supercharger which is very quiet compared to the old Eaton supercharger, right?

Big difference in the sound with the new Eaton and the old one. I changed from the M-90 to the TVS2300 on my '07' and noticed it right away.
Dave
Thanks for all the info guys. Yea its the Eaton. Been looking at the Ford racing 760hp upgrade kit too. Id love to just have this turned into a SuperSnake, but cant swing that bill for years.
Does it still have the stock intake "resonator" on it? The thing that looks like a muffler for Honda. I replaced mine with a Ford Racing resonator eliminator kit, and an airraid high flow air cleaner, and now that Eaton flat screams at WOT! Also, the 2011+ has a cold air intake installed from the factory, so putting an aftermarket CAI on it doesn't really do much.

thanks, I will order those 2 parts! Everything is stock accept for the Ford racing exhaust the first owner put on.
Took it out today for a quick warm weather ride and really nailed the gas on 2-4th. Finally heard supercharger open up! Cant wait for the new intake delete part. thanks folks
Just as a follow up, I just installed a Billet Pro 2.50 stock look upper pulley, a VMP Tuning 90mm idler, and a VMP Tuning 93 octane performance street tune! Holy crap! Thing's a rocket ship! And blower whine, OMG!

yeah...to say it's "detuned" from the factory is an understatement...you might now want to add "laser deflectors" to your mod list...it sucks to get a fat ticket if you are just making a blast somewhere....I got stopped in GA going 90 in a 70, would have been $970, luckily I talked it down to 84, so it was $270...so take it for what it is....
